Announcing King of Tokyo: Halloween Edition

Something Wicked This Way Comes…

Halloween is usually a time where people get to dress up and pretend to be whoever or whatever they want. Whether you want to be a mad scientist, a princess, or any sort of spooky monster you can conjure up, Halloween allows for it all. Children head around town trick-or-treating to build up their all-important candy stashes, and adults for one day a year can play make-believe and have no one look twice at them.

That’s great and all, but what are actual monsters supposed to do?

Well we’re about to find out. From IELLO, the makers of King of Tokyo, comes a ghastly new product: King of Tokyo Halloween.

In this exclusive expansion, players will be able to get into the festive spirit with the inclusion of six new orange-and-black dice to use with (or instead of) the normal green dice. In addition, they’ll also be getting 12 new Power Cards called Costumes that your monsters can wear while they’re battling for Tokyo.

Costumes work just like other Keep cards, with one exception – they can be stolen from you! Yes, in addition to fighting over city blocks, you can be claiming who makes the better scary witch. Costumes can be stolen by rolling three Claws and then paying the Costume’s Energy cost.

We’re pretty sure Cyber Bunny really wants to be an astronaut.

There’s no limit to the number of Costumes your monster can wear. If you want to be a Zombie Clown, you can – so long as they can hold on to them!

And, as it turns out, there are some newcomers to the scene that also want to lay claim to Tokyo as well. The Halloween Expansion introduces us to them. Meet Pumpkin Jack and Boogey Woogey:

Yes, they’re here to prove they’re just as frightening as any of the other contenders, and they’re each bringing with them 8 unique Evolution cards that can be used with the Power Up! expansion, though they’re still completely usable without it.

Lastly, this limited edition expansion will come with one promotional card for the next King of Tokyo standalone game coming in 2014.

As to when this Halloween expansion will be available? Why in October 2013 of course! It should be a frighteningly good time.
