Site News:
I wasn’t sure this would actually materialize, but after getting confirmation of it’s approval, it appears that I will be in a panel at PAX East this year! Woah. It’ll be that Friday evening and we’ll be discussing the language of board games and what it all implies.
New Games:
I’m not always the biggest fan of Cryptozoic’s licensed products, but they did just announce that they’ll be producing Adventure Time: Card Wars and that is news, so . . . (via Purple Pawn)
Toxic Zombies, due out in September, plays like Barrel of Monkeys only instead of monkeys, you have zombies. Is this the boardgame equivalent of a Hollywood remake? (via BGG)
Mars Attacks: The Dice Game is a thing that Steve Jackson Games thinks is a good idea. It seems to play a lot like Zombie Dice, only based on a dead franchise from my childhood. (via BGG)
Expansions:
Munchkin Legends 2: Faun and Games is a 56-card expansion designed for Munchkin Legends, but compatible with any munchkin game. Because more Munchkin. It’s due out in July. (via BGG)
Zombie Dice 3 will be out in May, and it includes a “giant” 12-sided die and 14 counters for brains and Shotguns. (via BGG)
Fantasy Flight is releasing Darkness and Light, a card pack for their Star Wars LCG
Age of Steam is releasing a new expansion based on the Southern US and Western US (via Unboxed)
Crowdfunding Corner:
The Hunted is an RPG in which players . . . well, you’re not evil. Technically. But it is your job to cause chaos and mayhem, and you’re rewarded for doing so. I’m curious to see how this one will play.
Kill Shakespeare is a semi-coop area control game in which players battle the dark forces of King Richard and Lady Macbeth. It’s the first title by the games branch of IDW Publishing, and it’s based on the comic of the same name. There’s a $50 buy-in to get the game if you don’t jump in on an earlybird discount.
War of Kings is a simul-play conquest/resource management game with some very neat looking minis. It’s $69 to secure yourself a copy of the game. We may have more on them later on.
Meeple are meeple are meeple, unless they’re Character Meeple. Then they’re still meeple, but they’re unique. Different. Or, at least, interesting. Check them out here.
Other News:
Don’t look now, but the general public got a dose of the gaming world when The New Yorker did an interview on Klaus Teuber, creator of Settlers of Catan.
