Here in the USA, January is the time of the annual “State of the State” announcements, where the individual state governors make announcements on their goals for the coming year (the Presidential State of the Union comes in February). What with the inauguration happening this week, it seemed a convenient time to provide a few brief updates on where we are currently, as well as our intentions here at The Cardboard Republic for the coming weeks and months.
I’ve done so by co-opting the normal Wednesday article space. Nathan’s piece this week unveils a new segment that ties directly in with the game we’re reviewing this week. Fear not – you’ll be seeing both in their entirety on Thursday.
First of all, we want to thank everyone who has been instrumental on getting this off the ground. It’s been a long series of months, and many, many, hours of effort by a number of people to make it a real thing. From the current writers, to those who help with reviews, to the various game industry folks and developers who have graciously given us the time of day even when this was still in concept form: we certainly appreciate the votes of confidence.
Secondly, please keep an eye on the site for some additional improvements and new segments being rolled out, especially in the next couple months. We have a number of things we’re working on behind the scenes to hopefully make it even more rewarding for you to visit our little piece of the gaming world. I’d love to go into details on some of them, but suffice to say that I’m excited to be able to deliver them to you as quickly as possible. So check back often!
Lastly, because of the timetable of our inception, we unfortunately missed the plethora of gaming conventions out there. We’re aiming to correct that in 2013. At the moment our focus is on the regional conventions in the Northeast for the first quarter of the year. We have plans to attend the following:
Unity Games on Saturday, January 26th
TempleCon on Saturday, February 1
TotalCon on Saturday, February 23
PAX East on Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23
If you’re interested in coordinating anything with us for any of these events, or have other suggestions on events for us to consider, feel free to email us; we’ll be happy to try to accommodate something if we can!
Again, we’re glad to be here, and we hope to continue to provide you with that little something to make gaming that much more entertaining.
Until next time, may your dice always crit.
